remember the good old days when the Popeye the Sailor cartoons were black and white and they threw hand grenades and blew each other up and they got right back up and did more things to make u laugh, and no special interest groups were telling anybody to be offended.

@Nagamangos – Hahaha! Couldn’t have said it better… except his name ain’t Leroy, it’s Lonnel, or Aquil, or Cha’pelle, or DeAndre, or Breon, or DeMarcus.

    Leroy is his “went-out-for-a-forty-and-never-came-home” father.

Oh yeah, this era was the best.

Well, as long as you were a white male, anyway.

Was the Mafia in charge of this ad campaign?

I loved this era. When people were free to say what they cared to without “offending” the over-offendable masses. Nothing wrong with these commercials whatsoever, and imagine if they were to air today. People would be calling for prosecution, there would be boycotts and single mothers would try to blame Wilkins for the gun death of thier 17 years old son Leroy…never mind that he was in the middle of a carjacking! Oh the good old days.

Less violent ad from this series:

Kermit: Which would you rather have, Wilkins Coffee or the cheap stuff?

Monster: I’ll take the cheap stuff!

(Can of cheap stuff opened to reveal baby birds)

    Baby birds: “CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP!”

Kermit: “You don’t want the cheap stuff! It’s for the birds!”
