Coffee People Organic, Extra Bold K-Cups for Keurig Brewers

I have been a fan of Newman’s Own Organic Extra Bold Fair Trade blend for quite a while now. It has become my “go-to” coffee when using my Keurig B70 coffee maker. However, I am always looking for something new and when Coffee People’s Organic Extra Bold came out in Amazon’s new frustration-free packaging I had to give it a try.

The first thing that I noticed after brewing a cup was the aroma. It smelled more like freshly ground and traditionally brewed coffee than any other K-cup that I have tried (and I have tried dozens) with a rich, heady aroma. The taste was full with medium-high acidity and a pleasing amount of “bite”, as one would expect from a dark-roasted blend. A perfect cup for me when using the 7 1/4 oz. setting but I imagine that some will like the larger cup size as well. I think that this coffee is strong enough to deliver a rich cup even with 9 oz. of water. I also like the fact that it is a certified organic coffee.

As for the packing, Diedrich (who makes coffee under the Coffee People, Gloria Jean and Diedrich name) has worked with Amazon to reduce the amount of packaging needed for their K-cups. All 50 of the pods are in one, heavy-duty box with no additional packaging. I just ripped the top off and stuck the entire thing on my shelf. A nifty way to help reduce waste and a convenient way for me to buy my new go-to coffee!

Previously a 5 star fan of Newman’s, I have to wave goodbye. This is the best bold and full flavored k-cup I have tried to date. Coffee People’s Organic Extra Bold is officially my daily go to cup of coffee. Great price with the free shipping. Kind of miss the nice boxes to store in my pantry, but can deal with the new packaging. You have to try this k-cup!

This is one of the best coffees I’ve ever drank. The flavor is amazing. Semi dark roast, not dark enough to be obnoxious, But it’s got a good kick. Definitely much darker than your average cup of coffee. A little darker, but much more body than starbucks sumatra.

As for the K cup itself. I bought the bulk package of 50. I’ve used about 10 of them so far. 8 of them have brewed a cup full of grounds. I’m not sure if it got roughed up in shipping or if the bulk packaging provides insufficient protection. or if the K cup itself is of poor construction. either way, i’m probably going to have to endure 30 or so more cups of coffee grinds.

I love this coffee’s flavor and strength, but almost stopped purchasing it because of this particular brand’s K-cup packaging defects. The top seals were not sealed and coffee grounds spewed out during the brewing. However, after a time. I ordered another box to determine whether/not the manufacturer had corrected the packaging defects (and because I really enjoyed this particular coffee). The box arrived, I examined each of the 50 K-cups, and every single one was properly sealed. I’m hoping that other “Coffee-People” customers are finding this to be true, also. I’m sticking with this coffee as long as the manufacturer sticks to his quality control practices!

I was skeptical as well, thinking that it would be hard to beat the Newman’s Own extra bold for flavor. However, the other reviews were correct (IMO.) Delicious flavor, with a very smooth boldness that is hard to beat. Watch out Starbucks! I may never partake of your overpriced brew again!!!!
