I’m a coffee achiever! Well, except for the achiever part…

This was way better when SNL parodied it as “The Crack Achievers.”

Hey, there’s a secret aerosol spraying program going on worldwide. Search “chemtrails”, “Dont talk about the weather” and “Endgame HQ”. Check my chan – I watched it happen. Wake up, wake others, we need ya.

0:18 the director falls to the left, then immediately comes back into frame from the right.

I love these! No one else I have mentioned them to remembers them…struck me as so weird, even back then. Please post the others if you have a chance. Btw, that’s not Pat Benetar, it’s Ann & Nancy Wilson from Heart!

    Hilarious! :-D

Definitely upload the other two! These ads were so bizarre. There was one with Ken Anderson that also inexplicably included Joe Jackson (the British pop singer) and Jane Curtin doing a “Weekend Update” from SNL. I remember just not…believing them. They seemed to have nothing to do with any of the people shown, and seemed to be way overblowing the capabilities of coffee. “Because coffee CALMS YOU DOWN…and picks you up!” Yeah, right…and this has to do with David Bowie and ELO how??

Speaking of 2 AM, I remember these commercials during Night Tracks on SuperStation WTBS. I should upload the other two with Ken Anderson and Heart.

0:25 – Looks like Cicely’s on something a little more potent than caffeine.

Lol I love how David Bowie when they say American Society. Considering he is British and cocaine is what got him up in the morning

Isn’t it ironic Vonnegut is in this ad? This ad seems like everything he mocks about America in his books.

  • writerspells said:

Yes, we are addicted to a drug in a liquid form. I guess thats what makes America work. That and weed.

ELO did this song! Great tune!

when this series first came out, they would air this at like 2 AM. I mentioned to my friends that it was like a surreal nightmare and reminded me of the image of someone “the movers and the shakers” slumped in the corner shaking with soiled pants…. Oh the memories!! thanks!

  • TheBlueFlamingo said:

I didn’t remember Kurt Vonnegut being in that commercial! Cool!

  • tuttt99 said:

Do you have the one with “Coffee beans and human beings were meant to be the best of friends”?

  • dj99surf said:

hey thanks for uploading this. I remember the one with David Bowie singing Modern Love. And the one with NY city marathon winner Allison Roe from 1981. Very weird marketing idea for coffee, pre-starbucks era.

Caffeine . . . the 80s version of meth. Oops . . . I forgot, it was cocaine, not caffeine. There’s a reference to this song in Weird Al’s “Dare to be Stupid”.
